CS Companionship was inspired by my own experience caring for my Mother. After the loss of my Father, I watched not only her physical health change over time but more importantly, her spirit. Once a vibrant, social woman working as a nurse and in community health, retirement, widowhood and reduced mobility gradually led to isolation.
Like many families, we did our best to support her – but balancing the needs of multiple generations (what is often called the "sandwich generation") made it difficult to provide the level of companionship she truly needed.
When she moved into assisted living, her care needs were met – but her loneliness remained.
What made the greatest difference were the moments of familiarity: familiar food, shared memories, music from her past and connection to her Caribbean roots.
That's when I realised this wasn't just our experience – it's something many families face. CS Companionship was created to help bridge that gap.
